Our central focus has been to engage and empower young individuals. One of our flagship initiatives that exemplifies this philosophy is our fight against food waste in schools. This project addresses the enormous amount of food waste generated in educational institutions—a problem that contributes to environmental degradation and represents a missed opportunity to support local agriculture and improve school ecosystems. To tackle this, we launched an innovative project aimed at transforming unused food into nutritious compost. In 2011, our foundation emerged from a simple conversation among friends who shared a vision for a better future. This vision quickly turned into a profound journey towards sustainable development and impactful social change. Our mission was clear: to create a structured and enduring approach to societal transformation, moving beyond sporadic charitable actions to implement lasting, impactful solutions.

We installed specialised machines in schools to convert food waste into compost, promoting a sustainable cycle that benefits school gardens. This initiative not only mitigates waste but also provides an additional revenue stream through compost sales. Schools participating in the program have reported healthier gardens, reduced waste disposal costs, and increased awareness among students about sustainability practices. From its inception, our organisation recognised that sustainable development must be deeply rooted in traditional Indian values of frugality and environmental reverence. This ethos profoundly influences all our initiatives. For instance, our bottle brick initiative transforms waste plastic into durable building materials. This not only addresses the pressing issue of plastic pollution but also provides an innovative solution for the construction industry. The bottle bricks are used in various construction projects, showcasing how waste can be repurposed into valuable resources.
